The South Florida landscape is driven by small businesses. Indeed,  Miami-Dade County by itself ranks 4th in the US according to the number of small businesses and has the highest small business concentration (81.3 %) in the region totalling 82,000+ that employ 53.3% percent of the workforce.

However, Miami ranks in the bottom tier on national indices for firm scaling which reveals that our ecosystem still has glaring needs (36 out 39 on Kauffman growth index). Similarly, the recent report , Miami’s Competitive Advantages in Entrepreneurship, noted the Miami area has a lower proportion of larger, high-value, entrepreneurial companies compared to many other U.S. communities.

Passport aims to resolve this problem of scale. Passport will develop the entrepreneurs’ industry specific knowledge about scaling their businesses successfully across the United States through individual and small group access to local and national resources.

In partnership with local ESOs and by leveraging our global and national network, Passport will curate a high-value experience, focused exclusively on connecting diverse, Miami based, Main Street founders with each other, prospective investors, and B2B partnership opportunities.

Through a rigorous 2-day working retreat in Miami, each Passport cohort will have access to a wealth of resources, including:

  • Scale Coaching: 2 rounds of one-on-one coaching sessions to discuss challenges and strategies for scaling
  • Tactical Training: 5 group masterclasses led by trainers to provide insight on national or regional growth
  • Tech Enablement: Access to tech solutions designed to automate processes and core business activities to accelerate operational growth
  • Open Access: Public workshops & office hours on strategies for growth during #VCMVirtual
  • Follow Up: Regular check ins with participants to track impact and roadblocks for continued support

Save the Dates:

  • F&B Cohort Retreat: November 13-14, 2020*

*Please note that these dates are tentative as we monitor the situation around COVID-19.

Want more information on what the retreat will look like? Click here for an overview of the two days.

We’re specifically targeting the Main Street founders that we don’t see visibly participating within Miami’s existing entrepreneurship scene– i.e. those founders who have their heads down in full commitment to growth. Each cohort will consist of 10 entrepreneurs.

In 2020 we will facilitate 1 Passport cohort in the Fall with a focus in the food & beverage industry.

For our Fall 2020 cohorts, we are looking for:

  • High-potential founders of underrepresented backgrounds in the food & beverage (F&B) industry
  • Companies based in South Florida
  • 3+ years of operations
  • $500K – $1MN in annual revenue**
  • Leaders willing to commit to a 2-day working retreat in Miami
  • High growth potential & ready to expand regionally or nationally

Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

*Considerations will be made for companies with annual revenues outside of this suggested range.

We know that COVID-19 has greatly changed plans for many entrepreneurs, and that future plans may be up in the air. If any of this initiative resonates with you, please apply! We are monitoring the situation and will adapt the program as needed.
